The new iPad may have set sales records, but in the end, it might just end up doing more harm than good to the Apple name. An increasing number of customers have found the Wi-Fi-only third-generation model to have issues with its wireless Internet, including intermittent connectivity, slow speeds and weak network detection. According to a leaked internal doc, Apple intends to diagnose the problem by mandating that AppleCare “capture” all affected devices, even the ones whose issues might be attributed to abuse. In non-Applespeak, that essentially means Apple employees are to immediately ship the devices to the company’s engineering center, and replace them with new ones.
