According to ExtremeTech, the world’s most popular porn sites get as much traffic as Google and Facebook. XVideos, purportedly the most popular of its kind, averages about 4.4 billion page views and 350 million unique visitors monthly, about three times the traffic of ESPN. The number of visitors is also more than the entire population of the U.S.
Of course, visitors spend far more time on porn sites than they would on any other site. The most visited blogs, for instance, average about three to six minutes per visit, while porn sites see visits lasting about 15 to 20 minutes.
ExtremeTech also crunched the numbers to determine just how much data the big porn sites use. YouPorn, they noted, hosts more than 100 TB of porn to 100 million page views daily, resulting in an estimated 950 terabytes transferred per day and 28 petabytes per month. That’s enough data to fill up 475,181 64GB iPods every month.
