A new report from the NPD group, an authority on gaming industry sales statistics, says that forty percent of gamers playing freemium games have paid for some sort of gameplay enhancement, either technical or aesthetic.
In addition to finding that four out of ten gamers have made an in-game purchase, the survey shows that while women play and return to a free-to-play game, men are more likely to voluntarily invest in the experience. Generally speaking, players tend to make their first purchase within the first month of playing.
In the end it's a slower burn, but not it doesn't take too long to get people to start forking over their money.
