Though it isn’t out yet, Windows 8 looks pretty damn innovative. Even more impressive is that Microsoft didn’t really need to come out swinging—it’s still the number one OS maker in the world, with virtually no competition for its number one spot.

Windows XP has been frustrating people for almost a decade now and it’s still used by almost half of the entire world. Combined with Windows 7, they account for 75% of the world’s computers. As for Mac, 6% of the world uses OSX and 5% uses iOS. Perhaps the latter stat is a big reason why Apple’s been making its desktop OS more like its mobile one.
