Facebook has launched its Messenger chat client for Windows, which at first glance, seems to be FB’s version of AIM circa 2005. Sure, users will have the convenience of chatting without having to log in to the social network through a browser, but with iChat, AIM, etc. already out there, it’s pretty much rendered redundant (no one can possibly have that many friends). Though, one cool thing the app will do is provide regular Facebook notifications, including comments and tagged photos. So in essence, users now need only access the browser version if they wanna stalk someone. Mac app coming soon.
