The Hunger Games continued its money-making ways by earning $18.9 million on Friday, pushing its eight-day total to $208.8 million, according to Collider. The website is reporting that the weekend box office projections for the movie should push its total gross to about $250 million by Sunday.

The movie did all of this despite having competition from the newly released CGI action-fest Wrath of the Titans, which earned $12.4 million on Friday. According to Box Office Mojo, The Hunger Games is 5th on the site's "Fastest Movies to Hit $200 Million" list, just behind The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

It's not often that a movie breaks records and pulls in this type of money during the spring, and if it keeps up this pace, The Hunger Games could become one of the biggest movies of the year when all is said and done.
