Tom's Hardware has got a very interesting exclusive scoop that could spell a break in Bethesda's long line of exclusively single player games. Tom's secret sources claim to have clandestine knowledge of a Bethesda-developed Elder Scrolls Online MMO. This is supported by, among other things, some job listings for "ZeniMax Online" that have been available for all to see for some time.
The game will reportedly take place during Tamriel's second era, about a thousand years before the events of Skyrim. The rumor predicts an announcement in May, followed by a presence at E3.
Before all you Skyrim fans start preparing for the end of the world as you know it, please consider that there's no way in Oblivion Bethesda will ever stop making single player RPGs. The Elder Scrolls Online, though, could prove to be a stellar MMO—especially if it maintains the games' quality first-person style and doesn't dumb itself down to be another World of Warcraft clone.
