Aside from being one of the most influential action flicks on this countdown, Shogun Assassinhas one particular distinction that sets it apart from the pack: Director Robert Houston's infamously savage film was once included on the United Kingdom's list of “video nasties,” which were movies banned for being too graphic, either sexually or gore wise.
Shogun Assassin, a combination of two episodes from Japan's popular Baby Cart series, is a symphony of decapitations, severed limbs, and blood geysers. And, arguably the movie's coolest byproduct, it's opening was used by GZA for the beginning of his classic LP Liquid Swords.
