We’ve known Murs the rapper for a minute, but something we didn’t fully appreciate was his love of comics. Well, apparently, publishing his own comic book is one of Murs’ lifelong dreams, and it looks like it’s about to become a reality. “Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl” is a mutli-media collaboration between Murs and writer Josh Blaylock that will be released as a 10-song album from Murs and corresponding 10-chapter graphic novel from Blaylock. The art on the graphic novel comes from Jose Garcia, with colors by Jose and Juan Urueta.

Murs’ goal is to drop both components at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and he’s set up a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project’s final phase. You can check out some killer artwork on the Kickstarter page, as well as read more about Yumiko, the merchandise salesgirl for her boyfriend’s band, who finds herself in a life and death struggle as the result of an ancient curse, at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1640692557/help-murs-launch-curse-of-the-merch-girl.
