When Apple unveiled the new iPad last week, we found out how many pixels comprised its new retina display and other impressive stats but Apple was particularly vague about the new A5X processor powering the device. Somehow, it was a dual-core processor with quad-core graphics, and per Apple, four times more powerful than rival NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chip.
Staffers at Vietnamese site Tinhte.vn got their hands on the new iPad and ran benchmark tests revealing the A5X’s actual specs: 1 GB of RAM and disappointingly, 1 GHz speed. In fact, according to testing software GeekBench, the new iPad scored a 756, compared to the iPad 2’s score of 721 and original’s score of 442. So if you’re in the market for an iPad, now you can better decide between the cheaper 2 or the better-looking new iPad.
