Marvel Teases “Spider-Men” For June

Spider-Man vs. Spider-Man? Yeah, we don't know what's going on either.

None

With a movie reboot coming out this summer and a new animated series debuting this Sunday at 11am E/T on Disney XD, Spider-Man looks ready to reclaim the superhero throne in 2012. And now a mysterious comic book teaser has appeared for a series titled Spider-Men, which will apparently pit Spider-Man against Spider-Man.

The book will be written by Ultimate Comics Spider-Man scribe Brian Michael Bendis with art by Sara Pichelli. Other than that, not much else is known about the project. It's clear that in one corner we have the Spider-Man that we all know and love, but his adversary is completely obscured in silhouette. It's most certainly another Spider-Man, yet we still don't know which one. The obvious answer would be the Miles Morales version of the Ultimate Spider-Man. Both Bendis and Pichelli worked on the character together previously, and it seems like the most logical guess at the point.

In the past, Marvel has claimed that the Ultimate versions of their characters would never interact with the mainstream ones, but that was over 10 years ago. Times have changed, and the books themselves could always use a spike in sales. We should have the definitive word on who Spidey will be squaring-off against when Marvel officially announces the book in the near future.
