Creator of The Terminator. Oscar winner. “King of the world.” Highest grossing filmmaker ever. Resident badass James Cameron can now add yet another entry to his impressive list of accomplishments: first man to travel to deepest spot on earth… solo.
Locked away in a tiny submarine named the Deepsea Challenger, Cameron is only the third man to travel to Mariana Trench located almost seven miles below the surface, and the first since the original pair’s voyage back in 1960. No one’s had the balls to make the trip since.
Upon reaching the bottom yesterday, Cameron casually tweeted, “Just arrived at the ocean’s deepest pt. Hitting bottom never felt so good. Can’t wait to share what I’m seeing w/ you.”
