At this year's SXSW Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom briefly showed off the company's Android app and hinted that it would be coming soon. Making good on that promise, Instagram now has a web page that allows Android users to sign up to be notified when the Android app is available for download.
While there are numerous apps available for Android that provide the same image-sharing and image-altering effects of Instagram, none of them have a community of 27 million users. That figure is sure to multiply when Instagram hits the most widely used mobile OS.
