Tim Schafer's Kickstarter campaign has done quite well for itself, but indie devs Adhesive Games chose to go a more traditional route to raise funding for Hawken, and it looks like it's paid off—judging by their latest gameplay teaser video, at least.
They raised $10 million from investors (some of whom also funded League of Legends, itself a lucrative venture), and the first-person mech shooter looks absolutely fantastic.
