Gym Where Ali and Tyson Trained Now Attracts Wall Street Types

Fighters, just the same.

The famous Gleason's Gym, which opened in the Bronx back in 1937 and has since moved to Brooklyn, is the America's oldest active boxing gym.

Since then, the gym has produced many a famous boxer. Legends all the way from Jake LaMotta and Muhammad Ali all the way to Mike Tyson have trained at Gleason's. Accomplished boxers made the gym famous, but these days it draws a different crowd.

According to owner Bruce Silverglade, Gleason's is now inhabited by business men and women who take out their aggression through boxing. The only thing better than suits destroying each other in offices and boardrooms is suits destroying each other in the ring.

The new audience speaks to the evolution of New York, but Gleason's history will always keep it a main attraction.
