Less than a day after two groups of hackers exposed vulnerabilities in Google Chrome in separate, yet simultaneous competitions, Google has already fixed the breach with a security update, a testament to the browser’s open-source nature.

Also to Google’s credit, despite the double attack, both parties failed to break into Chrome’s security sandbox, a restricted perimeter isolating the web content from the rest of the OS. Google offered up $1 million to any capable parties, but ended up only paying out $60,000 to college student Sergey Glazunov, as he was only able to bypass the sandbox.
