Last week it was reported that some employers were asking applicants to supply their Facebook login information. On Friday Facebook's chief privacy officer, Erin Egan, made an official statement on behalf of the company saying that no one, under any circumstances, should be forced to divulge their password.

"If you are a Facebook user you should never have to share your password, let anyone access your account, or do anything that might jeopardize the security of your account or violate the privacy of your friends...As a user, you shouldn’t be forced to share your private information and communications just to get a job."

The statement also goes on to say that if this trend continues, Facebook may look into taking legal action.

Keep this in mind if your potential future employee asks you for your Facebook password.
