David Slade Set To Direct NBC's "Hannibal" Pilot

NBC has hired David Slade to direct the pilot for the network's new drama series based on the early life of Hannibal Lecter, titled Hannibal, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Aside from big screen success with movies like 30 Days of Night and Twilight: Eclipse, Slade has recently had some high-profile small screen credits working on NBC's Awake and AMC'sBreaking Bad.

NBC has ordered 13-episodes of the series that will feature characters from Thomas Harris' novel, Red Dragon. The show will follow FBI agent Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) and his relationship with Dr. Hannibal Lecter. 

The series will be written and executive produced by Pushing Daisies'Bryan Fuller, while Martha De Laurentiis, Sara Colleton, Jesse Alexander, and Katie O'Connell will also serve as executive producers.
