What do Aziz Ansari and Louis C.K. have in common? They are both comedians who do stand-up, have wildly popular television shows, and most recently, have become brilliant self-promoters.
C.K. made the groundbreaking decision to sell his comedy special "Live at the Beacon Theater" online and bypass major networks, a move that netted him over a million dollars in profits, $280,000 of which he donated to charity. Aziz has since followed in his footsteps, choosing to sell his stand-up special "Dangerously Delicious” for $5 on his personal website.
Why did the Parks and Recreation star choose to go the self-promotion route? “It seemed like the smartest way to deliver it,” Ansari said.
