Okay, so Uggie (the dog) didn't announce his retirement, but his trainer, Omar Von Muller, definitely did. "It is a shame this has happened when he is getting the biggest success of his career but we feel the best thing to do is to retire him after the Oscars," he told The Hollywood Reporter on Feb. 6. Apparently he has a mysterious neurological disorder. Very sad.

We're guessing Mullter hadn't got the memo yet about the Nintendo partnership, which was announced today. Apparently Uggie will be the new spokesdoggie for Nintendogs + Cats in an ad campaign that will demonstrate "how the game includes valuable tips on how people can maintain happy, healthy relationships with their furry friends in real life."

That dog is adorable, so we're looking forward to the ads, but hopefully he's not being overworked. Is there a union he can join? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter.
