Photos of New York's 2nd Avenue Subway Site Resemble Post-Apocalyptic Future

On that Judgement Day tip.

Via MTA.

These new photos from the MTA show the work being done to the 2nd Avenue subway, and it looks wild—like, Mad Max wild. This of the first of four phases; completion is set for 2016. When it's all said and done, the construction will result in a two-track line along 2nd Avenue, from 125th Street to the Financial District. A connection through the 63rd Street tunnel for service toBrooklynand West Midtown will also be created.

Gothamist jokes that if the Mayans were correct in their prediction, this is the perfect safe house. If the Mayans were right, New Yorkers (and everyone else) may not get the chance to hide before we're all wiped out.
