Officially Official: Apple To Announce New iPad March 7

It's coming.

None

Apple will announce the highly anticipated next entry in its blockbuster line of tablet computers on Wednesday, March 7. The company sent out the official invite to the special event in San Francisco (above) this afternoon, declaring "We have something you really have to see. And touch."

With rumors and purported leaks about the next iPad reaching a fevered pitch, the announcement of an announcement was somewhat less coy then invites Apple has sent out for similar events in the past. In the included picture, a new version of the iPad is clearly shown, and it appears to have a very high resolution display— the so-called "Retina Display" that most have anticipated.

In addition to the new display, the next iPad is also expected to support high-speed 4G data networks as well as the iPhone 4S's artificially intelligent assistant Siri.

Check back for more info on the next iPad on March 7, when we'll be covering Apple's launch event live.
