Minecraft creator Markus Persson wants to make Psychonauts 2.

How do we know? He said so on twitter.

If that sounds like the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard, I don't blame you. Still, it's true and Psychonauts fans have been given just a sliver of hope that maybe they'll get a sequel to the cult classic. It's a kind of a long story (not really), so let's start at the beginning...

Last week, Double Fine chief Tim Schafer told Digital Spy that he's pitched a sequel to his cult classic, Psychonauts, multiple times but hasn't been able to convince a publisher to fund the project.

Upon reading that information, Markus Persson, A.K.A. Notch, creator of Minecraft,  answered the challenge that Schafer never realized he'd issued, tweeting bluntly:

"Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen."

Notch, possibly realizing that a single tweet wouldn't necessarily garner a serious response, followed up with a second tweet confirming to Rock, Paper, Shotgun that he was "serious" about the idea.

Schafer has yet to respond publicly to Persson's offer. He responded to all of the commotion on Twitter, saying: "Hm. This is interesting."

Since then, neither Schafer or Persson has tweeted much. Hopefully that means they're getting down to the nitty gritty and working out a Mojang/Double Fine partnership.
