Chances are Apple didn’t plan for this: if you swap your SIM card into someone else’s iPhone, there’s a strong chance that someone else will begin receiving all of your textual correspondences… forever (or at least until you get a new phone and/or SIM).

The bug most likely comes down to the widely postulated theory that iMessages are permanently pegged to SIM cards, not a cloud-like sign-in system similar to any e-mail client. That means Apple Genius Bar employees are especially susceptible, as they frequently swap in their own SIM cards into customers’ phones when troubleshooting the devices. In other words, Apple (accidentally) screwing Apple.
