On October 5, 2011, Steven Paul Jobs succumbed to a nearly decade-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 56. His story is now legend. Jobs, adopted by a loving blue-collar couple and raised in Silicon Valley, co-founded Apple Inc. and Pixar Animation Studios and helped transform the world of technology time and time again. He was a perennial innovator, always looking past the current in hopes of discovering what people would need in years to come.

Though he’s no longer running what is now the most valuable company in the world, his fingerprints can be seen on every product Apple ships. However, while he’ll always be remembered for the gadgets he famously slaved over until they were, as he put it, “insanely great”, we’ll also remember Jobs as a rebel with a cause—a man who said and did whatever he pleased. Whether it was during one of his legendary keynote speeches or product launches, or in an interview, Steve Jobs would always manage to amaze.

It’s with that in mind that we decided to compile some of our favorite Steve Jobs moments and quotes—both scathing and inspirational—and create The Steve Jobs Soundboard. Take some time out to celebrate what would have been his 57th birthday by remembering the legendary luminary in his own words. Enjoy.
