According to the NY Times, in the secretive Google X offices, employees are hard at work “on robots, space elevators, and dozens of other futuristic projects.” Most may never see the light of day, but one is reportedly imminent: Android-powered glasses featuring 3G and 4G connections. As if smartphones, the glasses will project data across the lenses, using information gained from a built-in camera and tools such as Google Latitude and Maps to let users check into location and communicate with friends. Expected to be priced similarly to top smartphone models, the glasses could hit stores by the end of the year.
