This weekend marks the anniversary of the murder of Mike "Dream" Francisco, the Bay Area graffiti legend who was killed in his hometown of Oakland during a robbery 12 years ago. Tomorrow, his family, friends, and fans will gather at the Oakland Metro Operahouse for the third annual Dream Day, a celebration of Francisco's contribution to the Town's culture, and a chance to contemplate the violence that took his life and continues to haunt his beloved hometown.

The event is sponsored by the TDK Crew and Nvr Ovr, and features music by ShortKut, Sake One, Fuze, Myke One, Pam the Funkstress, Platurn, Sean G, Tim Diesel and Willie Maze, with live drums by Big G of the 808 Band, and performances by Equipto, Max Kane & Teeko Ensemble, L*Roneous, Renegade Rockers, Dub Esquire and Mic T.

When he was killed, Dream left behind an infant son, Akil. Akil is now 12 and, as with past Dream Days, all proceeds will benefit the Dream Legacy Fund to help with his upbringing. Those wishing to make further contributions can do so by writing to:
