With the next version of the iPad just around the corner, Best Buy is unloading its current inventory of iPad 2s by offering a rare $50 discount. The entry-level 16 GB WiFi-only iPad is currently going for $449 on the big box retailer's website, down from the usual $499. The savings extend all the way to the high-end 64 GB Wi-Fi + 3G model, which is now $779.
As is tradition, once Apple rolls out the new iPad, all previous models will get a considerable price cut, so it's likely this move by Best Buy will actually save them money in the long run.
The next iPad is expected to be announced in early March.
