Sony announced today that, between the Japanese launch in December and the western launch last week, the PlayStation Vita has sold more than 1.2 million units worldwide. Sony also said that more than two million games Vita games have been sold through retail and digital channels.

The stats are based on the Vita's sales in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, PAL regions, Europe, North America, and Latin America.

“PS Vita was designed to deliver the ultimate portable entertainment experience, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the reaction we’re seeing from consumers and the pace at which PS Vita is selling," says SCEI president Andy House.

Do the Vita's initial sales effect whether or not you'll pick up the new console? Are you one of the 1.2 million who's already got one? Let us know in the comments!
