Whenever Warner Bros. decides to release the The Dark Knight Rises DVD, you're going to have wait a good while longer to rent it from Netflix, Blockbuster, and other movie rental businesses.

Time Warner's movie studio has revised its deal with popular video rental services Netflix and Blockbuster to double the amount of time they are allowed to rent the studio's new movies. The current deal places a 28-day embargo on newly released DVDs. The new deal will make companies wait 56 days.

According to All Things D, Warner Brothers hopes this tactic will boost DVD sales which have been dropping year after year.
