Who has time to wait on the postal service? In our give-it-to-me-now society, the need for instant trickles into every area of self-indulgence, from the dating scene (smashing on a first date, for the win) to experiencing new music (bow down to the altars of Hulkshare and Multiupload). And when it comes to Netflix, the addictive online service inherently designed to make the video rental process ten times quicker and easier than before, as is, it’s all about the “Watch Instantly” option. Screw sitting around and counting the minutes until the mailman shows up with the latest shipped-out Netflix DVD—we want to watch movies immediately.

That’s why it’s often disheartening to sift through the Watch Instantly library and learn that the one flick you’ve been dying see is only available via hard-copy disc. Such reoccurring disappointment has led many to criticize the website’s streaming service as a “slim pickings” letdown, but, truth be told, that reputation isn’t fair.

Having combed through the site’s entire Watch Instantly catalog, we’ve made wait-less gratification infinitely easier with this list of The 100 Best Movies Streaming On Netflix Right Now, presented in the following descending order of genre: Action, Kids’ Movies, Comedies, Documentaries, Dramas, Thrillers, Horror, and Science Fiction. Now go forth, budding film junkies, and step your movie knowledge games up.

So...I'm still not missing anything after dropping streaming three months ago.

I do a list each week for my site with four movies and a tv series to catch on Netlix. This list is pretty daunting.

this is a really good list, excellent breadth both in respect to era and genre and you guys really came through with some oft forgotten gems and cult favorites. props to whoever came up with the list, one of the better pieces i've seen on complex in a minute, definitely going to have to add some of these to my queue

I came into the article with a idea of movies that would determine whether I took you serious or not. And I'm more excited than relieved to say you were spot on and then some. You seriously get much respect in my books, which probably means nothing to you. The pieces I read are usually do or die, hit or miss, but this was legit and solid. Great variety, Matt and his team went ham. Lol

Thanks! Added quite a few to my cue thanks to you. What the hell is wrong with the developers at Netflix. I've rated nearly a thousand films and there are still only (0) recommendations in Scifi/Fantasy - a genre I heavily rely on.

Not much of a fan of Sci fi so that takes the top ten off my list even tho I did try watchin 1984, Monster, and The Brother from Another plant... Theyre interesting but at the same time i felt like it was time wasted. :(
