A New York Post report about Swizz Beatz's new legal issues raised a lot of eyebrows and left many jaws agape when it revealed that the producer was the CEO of the popular file-sharing website Megaupload, which was shut down by the Department of Justice yesterday. There was only one problem with the story: it wasn't true.

Speaking with VentureBeat, Megaupload's attorney, Ira Rothken, said that Swizz Beatz was never the CEO of the the company:

“To my knowledge, Swizz Beatz was never involved in any meaningful way. He was negotiating to become the CEO, but it was never official.”

Lending more credence to case that Swizz was never CEO is his absence in the 72-page federal indictment which was filed yesterday by the DoJ.

Megaupload, a file-sharing site founded by former cyber criminal Kim Schmitz, was shut down yesterday by the Feds under allegations that it was illegally distributing copyrighted material which in turn led to over  $500 million in losses for the copyright holders.
