Sony announced via the Playstation blog that Starhawk, a game that's somehow related to the PS1 classic, Warhawk, will be in stores on May 8th. Unlike the PS3 reboot of Warhawk, Starhawk will feature a single-player campaign, and mixes third-person shooting and driving elements to the series' signature air combat.

In the meantime, Starhawk's multiplayer beta is opening up to the public, starting today. At the moment, the beta is only available to Playstation Plus members, but more and more players will get access over the next few weeks. Here's a full list of when everyone gets access:

Today - Playstation Plus members and private beta testers

January 31st - Players with codes that packaged with Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

February 7th - Gamestop, Playstation and Facebook will be giving away codes online.

February 14th - IGN will be giving away codes.

February 21st - Open beta can downloaded by anyone via PSN.
