Bust out your eyepatches, kids, because Scarygirl has been released today on Xbox Live Arcade, with a PSN version coming next week. The titular Scarygirl is an abandoned child with a tentacle arm and the wardrobe of a pirate—hence the eyepatch. And since it's a stylized 2D platformer and action game, you won't need that depth perception anyhow.

Her dreams are haunted by a mysterious man, and the game, like the graphic novel, follows her on her adventures as she seeks him out. She's assisted by her friends, "Blister the giant octopus" and "Bunniguru the mystical, kung-fu rabbit," as she faces enemies that include "the adorably deadly hedgehogs of the Owl Woods, the violent Goat Clan along the Old Man Mountains, Hairclump spiders deep in the Stinky Swamp, and the most enemiest enemies of all: the clueless crossing guards around Bad Town!"

We do love a well-written press release. The game costs 1200 Space Bucks (or about $15) on Xbox Live, and FYI, it supports co-op, as well. Let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter.
