Sony San Diego caused a bit of a stir earlier this week when they announced that the upcoming PS Vita game ModNation Racers: Road Trip would launch without online multiplayer. They said they don't want to re-hash old features, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense—probably because the real reason might have more to do with a tight development schedule.

Either way, Game Director Erich Waas took to the comments of the original PS Blog entry to tell fans, "All this said, the development team is looking at online head-to-head in a patch. This wouldn't be available day-1 of the PlayStation Vita launch but it is indeed something being researched as I type this."

Then there's Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Naughty Dog reportedly told Destructoid off-hand to expect "something different" and wait for an official announcement regarding multiplayer. The Japanese version didn't launch with multiplayer, despite the Vita's robust capabilities, but hopefully we can expect co-op or deathmatch—or something else entirely—in a patch or paid DLC.

We're just speculating, but if either dev was to offer multiplayer post-launch as paid DLC, would you fork over a few bucks to unlock what most players would say should have been there all along? Would you pay more than a few bucks—like a monthly subscription? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
