Parrot Unveils AR.Drone 2.0 Quadcopter at CES

The popular smartphone-controlled toy gets a nice upgrade.

Parrot officially unveiled the follow-up to its popular AR.Drone quadcopter today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The smartphone-controlled quadcopter, dubbed the AR.Drone 2, gets a more aggressive look and a more durable body. Its on-board camera also gets an upgrade as it's now able to record true 720p HD video.

Parrot also revamped the accompanying Freeflight app. Freeflight 2.0 now lets users program the copter to follow pre-determined flight paths as well as autonomous video recording. A new "pressure sensor" will allow the Done 2 to fly in higher than six meters. The AR.Drone 2 will reportedly run $300 and is expected to drop in Q2.
