Ubisoft has posted a new video for their upcoming downloadable title I Am Alive. The video shows off some very intense combat, and some unnerving standoffs between the player and enemies.

It's a short video, but it shows that this world is one where the main character must psychologically detach and take out enemies very quickly, since it's unknown how many others may be waiting in the shadows. I Am Alive seems to have the sense of isolation thing down, and it looks like using your wits to survive will be key in this experience.

Certainly the apocalypse has been fodder for a lot of games in the past few years, but it also looks like games like I Am Alive and Naughty Dog's The Last of Us are building experiences that hinge on the psychological aspects of the world ending. Hopefully, neither of these games becomes formulaic in their experiences and give us something fresh, which is what I'm sure we're all hoping for.

I Am Alive is due out in Q1 of 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Who else is looking forward to stepping into I Am Alive?
