It Appears "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2" is Definitely Still Happening

But is GSC Game Worlds coming back from the dead?

More than a month after S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developers GSC Game World announced they were shutting their doors for good comes another announcement, this time via Facebook. It appears they're not quite finished yet: "The Stalker team is extremely happy!" they write. "Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays."

They made a similar announcement on Twitter almost three weeks ago, though without further comment it was hard to say exactly what they meant by "and hopefully everything will turn out well."

This only begs the question, though, whether the GSC team will remain intact during and even after S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's development, or if the reigns will be handed to someone else. We're guesing THQ, the publishers of the first game, are no longer involved, so who's the new publisher?

There are lots of questions, but more confirmation that the game's actually still being made is great news as far as we're concerned. Did you play the original? Are you excited for the sequel? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
