Fortune has ranked Google tops on their list of the 50 best places to work in America, citing bougie perks such as bocce courts, a bowling alley, and eyebrow shaping in the New York office.
The company also holds “TGIF” meetings where any employee—from entry-level up—can question Google’s top brass, like CEO Larry Page. And beyond just happiness, employee health is also prioritized—Google’s office air quality is said to rival that of a hospital and company officials subject all building materials to actual sniff tests to keep toxins away.
Now, despite seeming like an American utopia of capitalism-meets-democracy, as the local Mercury News points out, the perks could just be there to foster a workweek longer than 40 hours. Fair tradeoff.
