Bullet Hell Developer Cave Re-Focusing to Social Games

They're putting unannounced games on hold.

Even if it is more popular in Japan, the obscure bullet hell genre can't be terribly profitable, even for a developer that's been doing it as long as Cave. It's a shame, but the company has announced that financial troubles are forcing them to put several unrevealed projects on hold to "pour more resources into social games," reports Andriasang.

Cave's track record is impeccable, with franchises like Espgaluda and Deathsmiles keeping a core of dedicated fans happy. But that's not a profitable business model in the long run, apparently. Their titles on iOS platforms seem to have done well, so maybe it won't be so bad if they shift focus to more social-friendly objectives.
