Average Silicon Valley Salary Hits Six Figures

Cali has it all.

None

As if the prospect of working for Silicon Valley companies like Apple and Google didn’t already offer sufficient prestige and perks, the money alone is enticing enough for jobseekers. According to tech survey firm Dice, salaries in the region rose 5.2% across the board to bring the average up to $104,195, crossing the $100,000-mark for the first time. The national average for tech-sector jobs only rose 2% to $81,327.

The current tech boom, spurred by the likes of Facebook and Twitter, is responsible for a hiring spike in which companies are forced to outbid each other for the top talent. There was a 26% increase in Silicon Valley postings in December—5,026 positions available—compared to a year ago, while the nationwide increase was only 11%. And yes, even bonuses and independent contractor rates in Silicon Valley are higher than anywhere else. It’s another gold rush out there.
