Reports surfaced today that Apple will be hosting a media event in New York later this month hosted by company SVP Eddy Cue. According to TechCrunch, the focus of the event will be the company's iBooks publishing platform.

iBooks was announced with the original iPad in 2010, and has since had middling success as a competitor to pre-existing platforms like Amazon's Kindle. Eddy Cue, who is in charge of Apple's digital services, incuding iTunes, iCloud and the App Store, last visited New York in early 2011 to help launch News Corp's iPad newspaper The Daily.
