As part of its New Year’s Honours List, the UK named Apple design chief Jonathan Ive a Knight Commander of the British Empire. The mind behind the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, Ive is now Sir Jonathan, but that’s just about it for the perks, seeing as how feudalism ended a while back.
The honor is yet another in a long career of accomplishments, including the 2007 National Design Award for the iPhone. Noted for employing Dieter Rams-inspired minimalism, Ive has simplified ever-evolving consumer technology.
