Stanley Kubrick's rarely seen debut film, Fear and Desire, will have its world television premiere on December 14 at 8 p.m. on Turner Classic Movies, according to Entertainment Weekly. The movie was released in 1953, but it quickly disappeared from theaters even after it generated some decent buzz; however, Kubrick wasn't a big fan of it and he had been quoted as saying it was “a bumbling amateur film exercise.”
Fear and Desire chronicles the story of a lost platoon during an unknown war that comes across a mysterious woman who complicates their journey. The movie is just part of a 24-hour marathon on TCM that will chronicle other films that have been salvaged and preserved by the Motion Picture Department at George Eastman House.
