It's a bad idea to bring a weapon to the 9/11 Memorial, or any memorial site for that matter, even if you have a permit for it. As one Tennessee woman learned last week, things will not go well for you.

39-year-old Meredith Graves, a fourth-year medical student, was in New York with her husband on December 22 for a job interview. She elected to visit the memorial, but brought her loaded .32 caliber pistol along with her. After noticing the sign that read "No Guns Allowed," she tracked down a security guard to ask where she could store it. He introduced her to another guard, who introduced her to a shiny new pair of handcuffs.

Graves was booked on a felony weapons possession charge, and while she can legally carry a gun in Tennessee, New York doesn't give one solitary fuck about that. They held her on a $2,000 bond that she couldn't pay until yesterday, and she's looking at a minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years.

The fact that she doesn't have any priors might help her, but when it comes to gun laws in New York, praying for luck isn't safe. Ask Weezy and Plaxico.
