This week's issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed the development of a new game in the .Hack series. The next game in the anime-inspired RPG series will be tied to an upcoming animated film, .Hack: Beyond the World.

Similar to the film, the upcoming game will dump the series' cartoon-inspired art style for a more realistic approach.

The yet-to-be-titled game will take place one year after the events of the film, though the plots will be connected. Though it has not been confirmed images from the film, like the one above, appear to feature Haseyo, hero of the .hack//G.U. and .hack//Link anime series, indicating that he may also be the star this time around.

Though no release date has been set for the game, .Hack: Beyond the World will be released in Japan on January 27th, 2012.
