Hideo Kojima Wants You To Play His Next Game For 100 Hours

Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear, gives very few details about his next game.

Hideo Kojima, the absolute master of game teasing, gave a few details about his upcoming game. We can't stress the word few enough. However, Kojima, when speaking with CNN, said enough for us to know he's venturing into different territory, like embarking on a game he's defining as "very open world."

The quote from Kojima on it's open world was, "The kind of game I'm making is some game that has a very wide entrance, a very open entrance."

And on the cinematics [of which Metal Gear set something of a precedent], "Rather than making something very cinematic, [I plan to] make something very free."

And going back to the open world ideas, Kojima said the game will be, "set in a very open world where players can wander around and explore freely", and that "players should still be able to find new sights and worthwhile adventures after having played the game for as many as 100 hours."

It's pretty easy to draw Metal Gear connections to the one screenshot released so far [above], but we're hoping that the visual style is the only point at which this new game will connect to Kojima's previous work. He's definitely proven himself time and time again as a great game designer, so maybe this is the point at which he gives us something well removed from Metal Gear, and something that stands on it's own two feet.
