For all the technological innovation that gets poured into cars these days, one unjustly overlooked area is the tires. The inflated rubber model doesn't exactly scream 21st century. Thankfully, Bridgestone is out to change all that, demoing a new airless tire at this week's Tokyo Motor Show.

The tire uses spirograph-like thermoplastic spokes, and has fairly standard-looking rubber lining. Since it doesn't have an inner tube, you'll never have to worry about it getting punctured or gradually losing air.
