With construction on its Fifth Ave. retail location finally completed, Apple now plans to open its long-awaited and highly rumored Grand Central Station store next Friday, December 9, 2011.
The store, which was first rumored to open on Black Friday, now sports a sign that says "Apple Store Grand Central Arriving Friday, December 9." The project has been recently mired in controversy as the N.Y. State Comptroller's office has been looking into the lease Apple has with the MTA, the owners of the space. The Comptroller believes Apple may have gotten a deal that is not beneficial to New York's taxpayers.
If you thought Grand Central Station was busy before, wait until this store opens. We can already see the lines of people camping out to be the first ones inside. At least this time they'll be warm.
