As promised, Sotheby's auctioned off Apple's original founding document yesterday evening and, much like the company itself, the sale blew past anyone's wildest expectations. The document, which is signed by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, was expected to fetch around $100,000. But when the bidding ended, the three-page contract had sold for nearly 16x that at $1.59 million.

The winning bid was from Eduard Cisneros. CEO of Cisneros Corp. About 26 people competed for the prize, with six bidders participating remotely via telephone and online, according to Bloomberg.
